Exclusive Interview : Austin 'Tay' Iwar

Hello my lovelies! how is it going? midweek blues! lol it's Wednesday over here, I can not wait for the weekend actually, having 9am classes from Monday to Wednesday doesn't sound like fun -_-

It can be interesting though! because I’m getting into my course and I can say I actually like it. Okay! enough about me!

Today!! yes! I the Princess of China got a chance to Interview none other than the amazingly talented singer and producer! Austin 'Tay' Iwar of Bantu Collective! I've been raving about him for some time now! If you do or do not already know about this Super Hero please just keep on reading!

Note - None of these replies were engineered by me...as usual ;)

‘voices can go, but as long as hands can move, production can be done.’

Daisy : Hello Mr! Would you like to introduce yourself?
Tay : Hello, I'm Tay.

Daisy : How old are you?
Tay : Been around for 17 years.

Daisy : What do you study?
Tay : Studying sound technology.

Daisy : When did you figure out you had super powers?
Tay : I became a super hero when I was at most 7 or 8...was playing classical piano in Lagos at Muson School of Music. Never finished from that school because my family relocated to Abuja...that's where I learnt to use my powers.

Daisy : That’s quite interesting! I also relocated to Abuja with my family too some years back before relocating to China! Anyway! I've listened to all of your songs available and I still listen to them frequently, so yeah I'm still wowed till this moment.
Tay : Thank you!!

Daisy : Welcome! Alright so tell me! who is your music mentor and why?
Tay : This is always a hard question because I’m inspired by so many musicians, I can't pick one mentor...there's P.Morris, James Blake, Kanye West, St Lucia, Kaleem, Alaa Wardi, Bon Iver, Miguel, Chris Brown...the list is endless to be honest!  I'm a lover of musical fusion and love how adventurous these artists are, I’m an explorer too.

Daisy : WOW! at this list! you're quite enthusiastic about this! Speaking of Chris Brown! have you ever heard that you sound like him?
Tay : A lot of people tell me that all the time.

Daisy : Are you signed to a record label at the moment?
Tay : I'm not signed yet, still independent, but I have a team, Bantu.

Daisy : Alright! have you got a particular genre?
Tay : I'm an explorer, what ever genre that suits my mood and pleasures my ears enough I will dive into...so no I don't have one fixed genre.

Daisy : Do you intend on taking music seriously after school?
Tay : I intend on taking music seriously for as long as I can live.

Daisy : Which do you prefer, singing or producing?
Tay : I love both equally, but if I was forced to choose, I would say production, voices can go, but as long as hands can move, production can be done.

Daisy : Brilliant! do you have plans of putting out an album yet?
Tay : I haven't started work on an album yet, haven't given it thought yet, but I will!

Daisy : That's nice to hear! I promise i'll buy it! What's your star sign?
Tay : I'm Gemini.

Daisy : Just before we wrap this up! there have been speculations by a few people as to whether you're Nigerian or not, because of how uncommon your name is, and well...how talented you are. So where exactly are you from?
Tay : Lol, yes I’m Nigerian, born and raised...my parents are both from Benue state. 'Tay' is an extract from the name 'Tersoor'. (Tayso) It means father!

Daisy : I love unique names! You have my support all the way! keep pushing the envelope!
Tay : Thanks so much Daisy...Peace and Love :*
Cheers,
Austin 'Tay' Iwar.
